....however, people have asked, so here are our thoughts!
We created this list of gift ideas to help guide people in the UK who wanted to get us a gift. Because we are flying to NZ, it will be more difficult to bring stuff back to UK with us. We are not sure how to handle this, as we could easily get to the point where we burst our weight or physical space limits.
I guess that some of these things could be ordered via the internet from UK websites, for delivery to us in UK.
Another idea would be to give money towards a particular item, for us to then buy direct (on your behalf) when we get back home.
Yet another idea, would be for you to give us a consumable gift or spending money to be enjoyed whilst we honeymoon in NZ. So money for a meal out, some chocolates etc.
Just to give you a better idea if you are someone who doesn't like conforming to lists:
Mike is preparing our marital home in the lovely university flat. We have been blessed by the generosity of friends and family and have already been given tables, chairs, fridge & freezer, clocks, cutlery and crockery, glasses, microwave, washing machine & wardrobes. We have most basic things as it is a functioning home its just the luxuries and the cleaning equipment that we still need. It will be a financial challenge to travel to NZ, travel around there and lose a months earnings by not being around to do any paid work - so anything that will aid our travel, help pay for our air tickets, help us pay rent whilst we are away (and once we return) and give us the opportunity to do fun things whilst we are away, will be very gratefully received. People are important to us - so we think it is worthwhile to go to NZ to share this special time in our lives with friends and family there.
